The agenda of the Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees meeting tonight, July 22 includes a presentation on a porposed cellular tower to be installed at Exit 7 of the Hutchinson River Parkway. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:15pm at Village Hall, 4 Penfield Place (second floor)
Other items expected to be discussed include noise from concerts in Mt Vernon and possibly pedestrian safety issues.
The proposed location for a 120 ft cell tower is on state land at the Hutchinson Parkway Exit 7 in Pelham Manor. Objections from Pelham and Pelham Manor residents and elected officials forced a decision to drop a previous proposed location on state land across from the middle school/high school and Town Library.
The new proposed location (at Exit 7, not 8 as stated in the Department of Transportation letter with this article) is on state land at the cloverleaf entrance from Boston Post Road to the southbound Hutchinson River Parkway. The land is to the right of the stop sign where motorists stop at the end of the entrance ramp to the Hutch.
The proposed 120 ft pole would support NY State antennas at its top and Verizon Wireless's antennas and future commercial and governmental collocutors. There would be ground equipment at the base of the pole in a fenced compound at the site.
With this article is a downloadable pdf of a letter about the proposed cellular tower including several pages with visuals and photographic simulations.
