Pelham Village Mayor Chance Mullen said garbage and recycling services by its contractor is continuing at least until Oct. 1.

In a statement, the mayor said:

"On August 1, 2019, the Westchester Solid Waste Commission suspended Waste Services, Inc.'s license to operate within Westchester County. The Village of Pelham has been informed that the Westchester County Solid Waste Commission has extended Waste Services, Inc.'s license to operate through October 1, 2019. Residents should know that the Village has been working diligently to try to ensure there will be no interruption in service. Given legal sensitivities, we cannot comment further at this time, but more information will be shared when the circumstances permit. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Waste Services, Inc. (R & S Waste) is the Village of Pelham's contractor for garbage and recycling pickuo services.
