In 2020, the Pelham Board of Education must seek new bids for construction of the new Hutchinson School after the initial bids came in over budget. The Board is identifying various modifications to the building specifications to assist with lowering costs to complete the Hutchinson project within the budget approved by voters in the bond issue. Some items taken out of the proposal may have to be put in future regular budgets.

The Manor Club will host its second annual Preschool Open House on Thursday, January 16 at 7:30pm with representatives of the schools offering information  to parents, realtors and members of the community. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.

Start the New Year with a Watch Night Service to ring out the old and pray in our hopes for a better and more God-aware New Year on New Year's Eve at the Community Church of the Pelhams. The service will run from 8pm till about 9:45 pm.

The PMHS he Choral Concert on December 18, conducted by Maria Abeshouse. The Chamber Chorus opened with “Come Again” (John Dowland) as one of its four selections. Performances by the Concert Chorus included a Holiday Medley and a song to honor teacher Tom Roksvold who passed away last summer titled “Precious Gifts” written teacher Eric Katz. The AcaPelicans, a student led group, sang “Cantique de Jean Racine” (Gabriel Faure) and Isaac Blackburn soloed on piano with “Angel Medley.” The concert concluded with PMHS graduates joining in to sing “Hallelujah from Messiah.”

The December 19 PMHS Band Concert, directed by Andrew Van Bochove, began with the jazz band performing “Ginger Bread Boy” (Jimmy Heath) as one of its four songs, which also included “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In.” The Concert band then took the stage for four selections including “A Day at the Zoo” (James Curnow) and “Sleigh Ride” (Leroy Anderson), which featured several alums returning to perform with the band.

The case of Danny Manich, 60, of Pelham on two charges involving obscene sexual performance of a child after an undercover investigation by the District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division High Technology Crime Bureau is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2020.

The Board of Education will meet at 8:15 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in PMHS Alumni Hall on the ground floor of Pelham Memorial High School. Prior to the public meeting, the Board is expected to meet in Executive Session at 7 pm in the Superintendent's Conference Room in the Central Office, 18 Franklin Place, Pelham, NY 10803.

The 2020 Pelham Music Festival takes place on January 25, 2020, at the Pelham Country Club featuring local instrumentalists, vocalists, soloists, and ensembles, aged 8-18, playing any style of music including original compositions. It is a unique opportunity for young musicians to perform in front of family, friends, and community, in a supportive and nurturing environment. Watching and celebrating your friends’ performances is another reason people return to the Festival year after year.
