PMHS seniors Emily Nakayama and Peter Wei were recognized as October's Marilyn Stiefvter Scholars of the Month by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams.

Peter Wei is a National Merit Semifinalist who has won awards in science competitions and is a commended writer.  He is a pianist and guitarist and has won concert awards. He is a member of the  National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science and Ttri-Music honor societies. He is president of the PMHS Biology Club and a member of the Science Olympiad and Military History Club. He has played soccer and was an intern in a research lab.

Emily Nakayama is a National Merit Commended Student. She was a medalist in the National French exams and is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science and Math honor societies. She is a commended writer and tutors math and English. She is a member of Science Olypmiad and Model UN. Her extracurricular activities include ice skating and piano.

In addition to recognizing two PMHS students as Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary Club of the Pelhams awards a $10,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior annually. Funds for the scholarship are collected from donations by community members and Rotarians. Tax deductible donations made payable to Pelham Rotary Charities Fund  with the memo "scholarship" may be mailed at any time of the year to Rotary, PO Bo 8073, Pelham, NY 10803.
