PMHS seniors Vedika Basavata and Grace Liberatore were recognized as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams for December on Dec. 4.

Vedika Basavata is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the English Science, Social Studies, Spanish and Math honor societies. She has competed in Science Olympiad and won awards in the National Spanish Exam. Her extracurricular activities have included Model United Nations, Women's Empowerment Club and Young Democrats Club. She is on the Varsity girls tennis team. Her summer internship was at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Department of Neuroscience.

Grace Liberatore is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the English Science, Social Studies and Math honor societies.She is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and was a cum laude on the national Latin Exam. She has been leader of the clarinet section in the PMHS Concert and Marching Band. Her extracurricular activities have included Model United Nations, Math Team, Your Voice Matters Committee, Unified Basketball Committee. She has excelled in field hockey and softball. Her volunteer activities have included work with The Arc of Westchester, Cycle for Sight and Cystic Fibrosis Walk.

In addition to recognizing two PMHS students as Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary Club of the Pelhams awards a $10,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior annually. Funds for the scholarship are collected from donations by community members and Rotarians. Tax deductible donations made payable to Pelham Rotary Charities Fund  with the memo "scholarship" may be mailed at any time of the year to Rotary, PO Bo 8073, Pelham, NY 10803.
