Hearts & Homes for Refugees / Westchester Refugee Initiative will celebrate national Welcoming Week with a Fall Family Picnic on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
"We look forward to celebrating all who have been part of Westchester County’s welcoming movement, which is rooted in the Pelham community," said Kathie O"Callaghan, founder of Hearts & Homes for Refugees. In 2017, Pelham welcomed a refugee family from Syria into the community. Since then, over 90 refugees have been resettled across the county, and hundreds more supported through the activities of the Westchester Refugee Initiative, a coalition of refugee supporters spearheaded by Hearts & Homes.
All are invited to celebrate with Hearts & Homes for Refugees on Sunday, September 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Saxon Woods Park Pavilion, White Plains, NY. Please see the invitation for more details and RSVP through the link: Fall Family Picnic Invite at https://mailchi.mp/f43a77016543/your-invitation-welcoming-week-picnic-september-15
September 13 – 22, 2019 is being celebrated across the country as Welcoming Week, an annual celebration bringing together thousands of people and hundreds of local events that builds unity between the contributions of immigrants and refugees and the role long term residents play to foster greater welcome.
