PMHS seniors Sophie Xu and Lukas Glist were recognized as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for November by the Rotary Club of the Pelhams on Nov. 6,.

A National Merit Commended Scholar, Sophie Xu represented Westchester County in the New York State Math League. She is captain of the PMHS Math Team, vice president of the Computer Club and member of the Science Olympiad. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction and member of the Math and Science honor societies. A violinist, Sophie has participated in th Area All-State Orchestras and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has been active in Pelham Together and is President of the Youth to Youth Club.

Lukas Glist is a Commended Writer and a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science, Math, Social Studies and English honor societies. His extracurricular activities include Model UN, Science Olympiad, Math Team, Biology Club and Environmental Science Club. He was employed at Parsons Lab, MIT as a researcher during July and August. He plays the violin.

In addition to recognizing two PMHS students as Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary Club of the Pelhams awards a $10,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior annually. Funds for the scholarship are collected from donations by community members and Rotarians. Tax deductible donations made payable to Pelham Rotary Charities Fund  with the memo "scholarship" may be mailed at any time of the year to Rotary, PO Bo 8073, Pelham, NY 10803.
