“Alienated America” Author Tim Carney, who grew up in Pelham, will speak at The Manor Club (TMC) tonight, Thursday, May 16 about his book and its theme  on how the disintegration of social connectedness through the decline in marriage, church and membership in community organizations has led to feelings of alienation and support for President Donald Trump. He had a scheduled intervirew with Fox News earlier in the day.

In the book, he quotes research of others andhe also describes his own visits to several towns across the country where, among others, he talked with unemployed factory workers about why some did not move to another city for retraining and another job. He looked at whether the lack of support from marriage, church and civic groups were factors when people in places he visited felt alienated.

A graduate of the PMHS Class of 1996, Mr. Carney is the commentary editor of the Washington Examiner and a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

He has written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, the Washington Post, and many other publications. He is a protege of the late Robert Novak and an alumnus of St. John's College. He is married with six children and lives in the Washington, DC area.
