The Town of Pelham, in conjunction with the Fire and Police Departments of Pelham and Pelham Manor, along with Pelham Post #50 of the American Legion, held ts Annual Remembrance Ceremonies of the 9/11 terrorist attacks today, Wednesday, September 11 at 8:30 AM at the Pelham 9/11 Memorial on Harmon Avenue.

Carole Leavey, widow of Lt Joseph Leavey, who died in the attack, attended the ceremony with family members along with Sheila Scandole, widow of Robert Scandole, another Pelham victim of the WTC attack 18 years ago.

Pelham Village Mayor Chance Mullen and Pelham Manor Village Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey read the names of 10 from Pelham who died in the World Trade Center terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

The 10 are: Michael Boccardi, Montgomery Hord, Thomas Hynes, FDNY Lt. Joseph Leavey, Robert McLaughlin, Amy O'Doherty, Robert Scandole, Daniel Shea, Joseph Shea and Michael Tamuccio.

The ceremony also included ecumenical prayers by Rabbi Alex Salzberg and Community Church of the Pelhams Pastor Noel Vanck, various readings and an honor salute and the playing of "Taps" by a member of Pelham Post #50. There was also be the ringing of the firefighter's bell 3-4-3 for the 343 firefighters who died at the World Trade Center terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
