Walter O’Hanlon, 22, was sworn in as Pelham Manor Volunteer Firefighter Monday at the Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, Sept. 23.
He has lived his entire life in Pelham Manor with his parents Steven and Toni. He is a 2015 Pelham Memorial High School graduate, having attended Pelham Middle School and Siwanoy Elementary School. He participated in Pack 4 scouting.
He currently contemplates completing his college studies in robotics.
Mr. O’Hanlon is a Help Desk Technician at Numerix, a global fintech quantitative research firm. He has worked there since 2015. At Numerix, he resolves computer and cellular problems for local, nationwide and overseas employees. He is also the Floor Fire Safety/ EAP Warden and leads one assistant fire warden and six searchers who could assist with an evacuation of about 150 persons.
He was voted into the Pelham Manor Volunteer Fire Company on January 7, 2018. Since then he has completed the 141 hour, Firefighter 1 course as of May 2019.
He has been responding to fire calls in Pelham Manor since the completion of his county training.
