PMHS Junior Charlotte Howard will represent New York this June at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference and receive a $1,000 college scholarship.

The program, named for the founder of USA Today, the Freedom Forum and Newseum, will be held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., June 14-20 and offer an opportunity to attend sessions with media professionals and news executives.

Charlotte, who is assistant managing editor for the local news website the Pelham Examiner, has also served as Assistant Editor of the PMHS Yearbook. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Honors Society, English Honors Society, Rho Kappa Honors Society and Math Honor Society and has volunteered her time helping to raise money the Special Olympics and to build compost toilets in Ghana.
