At its meeting on Sept. 10, the Pelham Board of Education approved a five year extension of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Champ's contract. She has completed two years in the position.
The new contract is effective August 28, 2019 and ends August 27, 2024.
At the same meeting, the Board approved the appointment of Matthew Couture as a Latin Teacher and it was noted that he also can teach Italian.
Other approved appointments were: Paige Hefter as a probationary Elementary Teacher at Siwanoy School, Sennett Cooke as a leave replacement Elementary Teacher at Siwaby School and Vicky School-Mendez as a leave replacement Elementary Teacher at Colonial School.
Lynsey Tuthill was appointed Secretary to the High School Principal that is conditional upon her passing the next scheduled local Civil Service exam for this title.
Dr. Champ also announced at the meeting that total enrollment in September stands at 2,918, including 63 elementary sections which she said are wihin class size guidelines and have graduate interns in the larger classes.
