To the Editor:

On March 28, my 90-year-old mother was home alone and noticed three unknown people walking around our backyard. Understandably concerned, she called the police department and asked them to investigate. Spanish is her native language, but the officer on the telephone was quickly able to understand her fears. In less than four minutes Sgt. Gaul and officers Colleran and Zingaro responded to the call. The officers arrived and immediately assured my mother that she was safe. They took the time to talk to my mother, explaining that the strangers were surveyors. The police officers were patient, kind, and would not leave until she assured them she understood what they were saying and that she was fine. The responsiveness and kindness of these officers means a lot to me and worth sharing with all of the residents of Pelham Manor.
