Max Middleton and Cooper Winburn won first place in their divisions in Pelham's Fourth Annual Junior Home Run Derby held on May 17.

Nearly 50 players participated in the Junior Home Run Derby at Glover Field, a record turnout. Over two hours, the boys and girls attempted to hit homers off the accurate pitching of Fred Leone and Bill Mooney. Many connected, but Max Middleton was victorious in the 12U bracket, dinging 5 home runs to over 165 feet. Cooper Winburn took the 14U division with 14 blasts to over 190 feet.

Both Max and Cooper earned a spot in the regional competition this Sunday in Cranston RI, where they will compete against winners from other local competitions. The winner of that competition is flown to Cincinnati for a national championship during All Star Week.
