Zach Heese, a 2014 PMHS graduate, has earned a spot on the U.S. National Rowing Team and will be competing in the U23 World Championships in Poznan, Poland from July 25-29. Zach placed first in the U23 lightweight men’s single boat final on Sunday, July 8, the fourth day of U.S. National Team trials in West Windsor, NJ.
He was rowing for NYAC at the trials and has rowed with them for the past three summers.
Zach graduated in May from the University of Virginia where he was a member of the men’s rowing team. While at UVA, he and his teammates won several races, including the Varsity 8 at the Head of the Charles in Boston and Varsity Lightweight 4 at Dad Vails in Philadelphia. He was honored to be named an All American First Team Rower by the American Collegiate Rowing Association in June.
Zach began his rowing career with Pelham Community Rowing Association (PCRA), where he and his teammates placed in the grand finals of the U.S. Rowing Youth National competition.
