Two Pelham moms of young children are opening Tig & Peach, an indoor play space at 125 Wolfs Lane in downtown Pelham offering diverse class offerings, Instagram-worthy birthday parties and a community gathering place for young children, their parents and caregivers. Classes start in September and registration already has begun.

Amanda Star and Emily Donnelly, owners of the play space, are newcomers to Pelham who met at Huguenot Nursery School when their children were in the same class. (Amanda's childhood nickname was "Tig" and Emily's was "Peach".)

"We had both moved from the city, which is of course filled with plenty of amazing activities for our toddlers," Emily said."We talked about how we found it difficult to meet moms and playdates were tough in our homes with the kids running all over the place. We wanted to let our kids play in a fun, clean and educational environment and where we could also get a chance to know each other. We are both ambitious and we both love Pelham and bonded with our plans to 'someday open a business here.' That is where the conversation started."

Emily has a daughter who will be 3 in November and a son who is almost 7 months; Amanda has a 3-1/2 year old daughter.

"I was in retail development so I have opened up businesses," Emily said, "but never my own—which is a lot scarier! Amanda’s background in fashion really helped to curate the design of the space. It isn’t like what people in south Westchester are used to—not your typical ‘primary colors’ kind of place. It’s going to be bright and beautiful and really show off our sense of style. Amanda has a background in fashion and large scale events and I worked in events and retail development. Our past experience aligns perfectly with what we we are doing now. With the design of the space, the operations, the fun events we plan to host. It all stems from our previous careers and our experiences as mothers."
