November 4 - Monday - A new Westchester County law that went into effect October 39th grants victims of domestic violence or human trafficking up to 40 hours of paid leave to attend or testify in court proceedings related to their situations, to move from an abuser’s residence or to speak with lawyers or other advisers. Employers may ask for reasonable documentation that ‘safe time’ has been used for these purposes.

November 7 - Thursday - Veterans Day will be commemorated at St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site, in Mt. Vernon beginning at 11 AM, on Monday, November 11.. A brief ceremony in the church will be followed by placing commemorative wreaths and a tour exploring the lives and service of soldiers buried in the historic cemetery. At 1 PM, music historian Robert Cohen will present and interpret recordings of the music of the era of World War II and at 2:30 PM, a talk by historian Paul Gettler explores the Mexican War. Parking and admission are free; light refreshments served.
