Now, Baz Luhrmann has launched his eagerly anticipated big-screen portrayal of Elvis Presley’s life and career. Elvis explores the life of one of history’s most prolific performers, who had legions of devoted admirers all over the world, with Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker, and Austin Butler playing the “King of Rock and Roll.” Do you know if Elvis ever visited the UK?
Elvis never performed on a tour of Great Britain
It may surprise some given his widespread fame. The Daily Mail claims that Colonel Tom Parker, who is his manager and was brought to the United States illegally, is to blame for this. Colonel Tom Parker was born in the Netherlands. Colonel Parker was worried that since he didn’t have an American passport, he might not be allowed to enter the country again if he left the country for any reason, including to travel abroad with Presley. Parker allegedly persuaded the “Blue Suede Shoes” performer that going on a global tour would put his safety at risk and urged him to concentrate on the Las Vegas strip instead.
The singer did, however, make a brief trip to the UK in 1960 when his military flight from his obligatory army service in Europe to the United States made a stop at Prestwick in Scotland.

Elvis Presley follows the life and career of the renowned musician, including everything from his early years in Mississippi to his ascent to global success. After the movie’s debut, critics have mostly complimented director Baz Luhrmann’s efforts, with one favorable Rolling Stone review praising the “brash, overwhelming experience” that the drama on the big screen provided.
Presley’s own family members have also given the film their blessing. Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ ex-wife, admitted to loving the movie and thinking it was “beautifully done” in a press conference.
