Just a few months after his divorce from his first spouse was finalized, Les Moonves and Julie Chen got married.
Julie married then-CBS CEO Les Moonves four years into delivering the enduring series, which began as a Dutch presentation. However, the couple keeps rising through the ranks. Read on to learn more about Les.
Making movies for television is where Les got his start
Les found a home in 1985 at Lorimar TV, where he was in charge of the company’s movies and miniseries. He was chosen to lead Lorimar as president in 1990 and held the position for three years. Les gave “Buddies” and “ER,” among other wildly successful programs during that time, the green light while he was President and CEO of Warner Bros. Television. In 1995, he departed Warner Bros. to take the presidency of CBS Leisure. He was referred to as “Mr. TV” in a group embrace with Jennifer Aniston, Teri Hatcher, and George Clooney when he took over for CBS and was featured on the page of the New York journal.
While his divorce was still pending, Les began dating Julie
In 1978, Les wed Nancy Wiesenfeld, and the two of them eventually had three children. Despite already living separately, they filed for divorce in 2003. At about that time, Les and Julie started dating. Les and Julie were married in Acapulco 13 days after the divorce was legally finalized on December 10, 2004. He and Julie had their only child together in 2009, a son they named Charlie.
In response to sexual harassment, he left CBS
Six females accused Ronan Farrow of harassing and intimidating them in an article that was published in July 2018 by The New Yorker. Six additional girls came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct the following September. Les resigned as CEO of CBS on September 9, 2018, notwithstanding his denials to the contrary.
In a recent interview, Julie said she still supports her husband and even went into detail about why she used her married name to check out “Huge Brother” during a live broadcast in 2018 soon after her resignation. “When his name was being tarnished, I thought this is the time to make my stance and to let the world know who I am,” she told Deadline. And it was a sign of support for my husband. I do know him. He is also a successful individual. After acquiring Lorimar, Moonves became president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. TV in 1993.
