Alexander “AJ” Jennings, an actor who portrayed Chase Stokes on “Outer Banks,” was killed in a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles. He was 22.

A pedestrian, later identified as Jennings, was struck while crossing a road in North Charleston, South Carolina, at 2:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office. The automobile accelerated away from the incident.

Authorities were informed by witnesses

That a second vehicle struck Jennings after that and left the site. The driver of the second vehicle was found shortly after during a traffic stop in Charleston’s downtown, according to the press release.

After being taken to The Medical University of South Carolina, the actor passed away from his wounds. His death occurred around 3:13 a.m., according to the coroner’s office. The initial vehicle’s driver is still at large, according to authorities, and no charges have yet been brought.

“AJ was a wonderful, compassionate spirit and a bright light every day on set.”
