Ray Chew, a Musician, States that The Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show Will Be a “journey Through Ethnicities and Styles”

Ray Chew is the musical director and producer of such cultural icons as Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, and special TV events like the Emmys and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Even if you aren’t immediately familiar with Ray Chew’s name, you are definitely aware of his work.

Chew discussed his upcoming major undertaking, the Macy’s 46th annual July 4th fireworks display, which airs on NBC Monday night, with presenter Janine Rubenstein on Friday’s episode of the PEOPLE Everyday podcast.

Chew, a resident of New York is equally excited to work on something for which he has such wonderful childhood memories.

He recalled, “I usually went down to the East River and just watched in astonishment how this magnificent event would happen with all these amazing fireworks.”

The NBC network reportedly requested Chew

To “come on and curate a great musical journey that would speak about my experiences with the Fourth of July fireworks,” according to Chew.

Creating an experience that captures the diversity, inclusivity, and eclecticism of New York City meant this to Ray Chew: “I imagined New York natives or those familiar with the city. During rush hour, if you take the train to Midtown, you will see everyone on the planet represented in that train car, and everyone on the planet if you freeze-frame it.”

For Chew, music is his language, and he will express his notion to the audience through music. “I wanted to say that in a musical way. So I made the decision to depict my travels through various civilizations and genres in the score.”

Chew is familiar with a wide variety of music genres

Because of his work on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. He intends to combine all of them in what he jokingly refers to as a “fantastic stew.”

He said, “You’re going to hear some absolutely original flavors. “Thelonious Monk will be playing for you. Tito Puente will be played for you. You’ll hear John Coltrane and Carlos Santana, as well as some bluegrass, country rock, and Bruce Springsteen. everything possible.”

Chew declares

“I’m pretty excited about this,” in reference to participating in the tradition of the fireworks display while adding his own spin to it.

Chew concluded by offering suggestions for your Fourth of July playlist by sharing a few of his own. He remarked, “I’m old school.

He listed songs by Marvin Gaye, The Gap Band, and McFadden and Whitehead, as well as the Gap Band’s “Outstanding” and McFadden and Whitehead’s “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.” Beyoncé can certainly be included in that list as Chew made it clear that he was a member of The Beehive. “It’s constantly exciting. Everything “Beyoncé” is intriguing.”
