As the reclusive father of a 600-pound boy who leaves his family to be with his gay lover, Fraser has become a household name in action and comedy flicks of the 1990s like George of the Jungle and The Mummy. Filmgoers can get a sneak peek at what Fraser will look like in the film, which will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 5.

Fraser has a number of high-profile roles coming up, including the villain in the next Batgirl movie and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. An adaptation of the Samuel D. Hunter play of the same name portrays “a solitary English teacher suffering from severe obesity as he strives to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one final shot at forgiveness.” In addition to Fraser, the film features Samantha Morton, Ty Simpkins, Hong Chau, Huck Milner, Sathya Sridharan, Ryan Heinke, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in the cast.

Honors and Awards

A Seattle International Film Festival Golden Space Needle Award for his performance in “Still Breathing” was given to Fraser in 1997. In 2004, he won an Online Film & Television Association Award for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for “Scrubs,” and in 2008, he received a ShoWest Award for Distinguished Decade of Achievement in Film.

Along with his “Crash” co-stars, Brendan also won the Screen Actors Guild Award, the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award, the Hollywood Film Festival Award, and the Gold Derby Award for his work on the movie. When Fraser was awarded an honorary star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, it was in 2006.

It cost Brendan and Afton $675,000 in 1996 to buy a Beverly Hills mansion with an interior area of 3,948 square feet. They fetched $3 million for it in 2007, just months before announcing their separation.
