Nikolina Kamenova Dobreva, also known as Nina Dobrev (/dobrv/ DOH-brev), is a Canadian actress. She was born in Bulgaria on January 9, 1989. Her debut performance was as Mia Jones in the CTV drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation. She eventually gained fame for playing Katherine Pierce and Elena Gilbert on The CW’s supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries.
