Lovato wrote in an Instagram post that has since been deleted about the moment Ehrich proposed: “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand, but luckily you did too.” The only people who have ever loved me so completely despite my flaws were my parents. You’ve never tried to force me to act in any way that wasn’t natural for me. You inspire me to be the best person I can be.
Beginnings of Careers
Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Dianna De La Garza (née Lee Smith), a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and Patrick Martin Lovato, an engineer, and musician.
In addition to her full sister Dallas and younger half-sister, actress Madison De La Garza, Lovato also has an older paternal half-sister, Amber, with whom she made contact when she was 20 years old.
Lovato’s parents split up around the time she was two years old, in the middle of 1994. Her father was of Nuevomexicano heritage; he was descended from a long line of New Mexicans with deep roots in the state’s Spanish and Native American communities as well as more distant Portuguese and Jewish roots.
Patrick’s ancestors included Francisco Perea, a Union soldier, and Francisco Xavier Chávez, the governor of Santa Fe de Nuevo México. After her parents split up, Lovato had no desire to pursue a romantic connection with Patrick. She has English and Irish ancestry from her mother.
She has spoken openly about the tumultuous and abusive relationship she had with her father, saying at one point, “He was cruel but had good intentions.
And he desired to have a family, and he still had a big enough heart to say to my stepfather after my mother married him, “I’m so glad that he’s taking care of you and doing the job that I wish I could do.” To commemorate Patrick’s life and mental illness, Lovato established the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program after his death from cancer on June 22, 2013.
2022: Holy Fvck
Lovato first teased her eighth studio album in early 2022. On May 23, 2022, she announced that “Skin of My Teeth” would be the first single, with a June 10 drop date set. On June 9th, Lovato performed for the first time “Skin of My Teeth” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The record’s name, Holy Fvck, was revealed on June 6; it was released on August 19, 2022. According to Lovato, the album’s sound is a throwback to her first two rock-infused studio albums, Don’t Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009). The Holy Fvck Tour, in support of this album, will kick off on August 13, 2022.
