Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo (/dne ako/; born March 16, 1988) is an American singer who began her career by lending vocals to R&B group B2K and making appearances in a number of their music videos.
The release of Aiko’s debut album, My Name Is Jhené, through her record labels Sony, The Ultimate Group, and Epic was scheduled for 2003; however, the music was never made available since Aiko finally requested to be let go of the label so that she could finish her studies.

She released Sail Out, an extended play (EP), in November 2013 as her first work for Artium and Def Jam. The singles “3:16 AM,” “Bed Peace,” and “The Worst,” the latter of which the Recording Industry Association of America certified platinum, served as the EP’s promotional vehicles (RIAA).
