James made his high school debut on November 21st, 2019, scoring 10 points in a rout of Montgomery High School. For his efforts against his father’s old school, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, on December 14, James was voted the game’s MVP after scoring 15 points, including the game-winning layup. As a freshman, James had a point average of 4.1 in 15 minutes a game and was the only player for Sierra Canyon to play in all 34 games. To fix the meniscus tear he suffered in his second season, James underwent successful surgery.
