George R.R. Martin has yet another update on The Winds of Winter on his “not a blog,” indicating that the sixth book in ASOIAF is going to be the biggest.

As of this writing, ASOIAF’s Winds of Winter is the longest book in the series. A Game of Thrones, the first in Martin’s epic series, was released in 1996. Although the Game of Thrones television series will conclude in 2019, fans are still looking forward to Martin’s final two novels, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, which will be released in 2020.
A new ASOIAF novel was released every few years until there was a six-year break between the fourth and fifth installments.

When was the fifth installment released?
The fifth installment, A Dance with Dragons, was released in 2011, the same year as Game of Thrones premiered on HBO. At the time, Martin appeared sure he would be able to conclude work on the books before the play ran its course. Game of Thrones season 5 began to run out of source material, with the series’ last three seasons detailing events that had not taken place on the page. Now, as A Dance with Dragons approaches its twelfth anniversary, Martin has given another update on his efforts.

Martin responded to queries about The Winds of Winter in a new blog post.
Martin went on to add that his penultimate book, The Winds of Winter, maybe even bigger than A Storm of Swords and A Dance with Dragons. Martin’s complete comment may be read below:
Winds of Winter is going to be a massive book. It’s going to be longer than either A Storm of Swords or A Dance With Dragons, the two longest books in the series. First, I need to finish the project before I can begin trimming and cutting.
The number of pages in a Storm of Swords
A Dance with Dragons has a rating of 1,040 while is rated at 973. According to Martin in the past, The Winds of Winter will include 1,500 pages. There is a significant probability that he will go past the book’s stated length, which is why his publishers have advised him to split it up.
The Winds of Winter should be a massive book, given how much time he’s had, the fact that he penned hundreds of pages during the pandemic, and all of ASOIAF’s plot threats. Following the worst television series finale in history, there is enormous pressure on Martin for The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring to live up to expectations.
A lot of Westerosi stuff is still on the way this year, including the highly anticipated Winds of Winter. A number of prequels to the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones” have been announced and are in the works.
