Applesauce Pouches Recalled After Causing Dangerous Lead Poisoning and Contamination to More Than 50 Children
Applesauce pouches were recalled after causing dangerous lead poisoning and contamination to more than 50 children in several states, wherein the FDA found that the lead contamination source was commonly used in recalled applesauce pouches manufactured by different brands and sold in various markets.
According to a report published in USA Today, applesauce pouches with contaminated lead can affect people of all ages, but children aged up to 4 have been affected by lead poisoning and contamination after consuming applesauce pouches and experienced symptoms, including vomiting and fatigue.
With the exposure to lead-contaminated applesauce pouches, children and other ages can have long-term effects on health, either physical or mental as the lead toxicity found in applesauce pouches can eventually damage their brains.
Individuals Advised to Throw Away Applesauce Pouches and Avoid Buying Recalled Products in the Market
Despite the recall of different applesauce pouches brands, there are still other stores in the market that sell their products that’s why health experts advised individuals, especially parents to avoid buying recalled applesauce pouches for their children.
Health experts also encouraged individuals to throw away the applesauce pouches on their shelves and wash their hands thoroughly afterward to ensure that the contaminated lead will not stay on the surfaces inside their homes, NBC News reported.
