Career
Schon’s professional music career began at a young age. His guitar skills were rapidly recognized and he received a number of offers from bands looking to add him to their line-up. In 1971, when he was just 17, he became a member of Santana. He was also a member of Azteca at this time.
With Gregg Rolie, he started the band, Journey, in 1973. When Journey became a major success, Schon was a key member of the band, appearing on fourteen studio albums. One of Journey’s most popular songs is “Don’t Stop Believin.” Many of Journey’s albums have gone gold or platinum multiple times, and the band’s music is frequently included in television shows and movies.
Apart from Journey, Schon has worked with a number of other artists and bands. In addition to Sammy Hagar, Bad English, John Waite, and Hardline, he has collaborated with a number of other artists. Along with Betty Davis and Larry Graham, he played in an all-star band with Michael Bolton and appeared on one of his albums.
He’s also released nine solo albums under his own name. He is noted for his distinctive guitar playing style and the tone he creates with it. He’s been compared to the likes of Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight, as well as the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Carlos Santana on guitar. On the road, Neal Schon plays a Gibson guitar under the name “Neal Schon Signature Model Custom Les Paul,” a limited-edition model that Gibson only created thirty-five of.

Personal Life
Schon acknowledged his connection with Michaele Salahi in September of that year. When they were dating in the 1990s, the couple had first met years earlier. The two had been dating for a year when Schon got down on one knee during a charity concert at Baltimore’s Lyric Opera House, proposing to Salahi. He proposed to her with a diamond engagement ring that weighed 11.42 carats.
Their nuptials, which took place in December of 2013, were live broadcast on television. California’s Palace of Fine Arts hosted their wedding ceremony. Schon has been married four times before. Amber Kozan, Dina Gioeli, Beth Buckley, and Tena Austin are just a few of his previous spouses.
