It took Netflix fans until September to binge-watch the entire third season of the smash hit Sex Education and find out what will happen now that Moordale has been shut down, which was left as the series’ big cliffhanger.
As it turns out, Netflix’s Sex Education has been renewed for a fourth season, and future Doctor Who stars Ncuti Gatwa (Eric) and Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson) broke the news during its TUDUM event.
In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com, Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Aimee Gibbs in the Sex Education cast, indicated that the upcoming season will feel “a lot more grown-up,” before stating that the show’s future was uncertain.
Although this series may not be over yet, “it’s definitely closer to the finish now than it was to the beginning,” she explained.
Get the lowdown on what we know so far about Sex Education‘s fourth season, including a possible release date and what the Moordale students are up to next.
Season 4 of Sex Education Release Date
According to recent reports, production will begin in July and last until November. In order to release the fourth season by the end of the year, it is quite unlikely. We should expect the show to be in post-production for around four months before it is released on Netflix.
It would be in March 2023 if filming was completed by November of this year. If there are no delays, you may expect the fourth season of Sex Education to debut on Netflix in 2023 if there are no delays.
The plot of Sex Education season 4
Following the conclusion of the third season, it appears that the show will undergo some changes in the fourth. Following a student protest against Hope’s new restrictions, investors withdrew their support for Moordale High School.
After finally getting acquainted in the third series, Maeve left for the United States before their romance had a chance to blossom. While it’s possible that they’ll try long-distance romance in season four, we’ll have to wait and see.
After revealing that season four of Sex Education will be “a lot more grown-up” than the previous three, actor Aimee Lou Wood told RadioTimes.com in an exclusive interview that showrunner Laurie Nunn had told her a little bit about what to expect.
“I spoke to Laurie about several scenarios since I was so eager to find out what would happen to Aimee and the rest of the characters.
“She told me a couple of things, and I’m really excited about it. Due to the fact that Moordale is no longer around, I have no idea how things will go. Because I believe they are maturing, I expect it to be a totally different experience than it has been in the past.
“Season three seemed more mature to me than the previous two. The fourth season is going to be much better, I believe “She added.
Jakob may not be the father of Jean’s baby, which would put their delicate relationship and fresh family dynamic to the test in the climax of series three.
Additionally, Cal and Layla’s blossoming friendship and a possible love triangle involving Eric, Adam, and Rahim, Eric’s former boyfriend from the third series could be explored in season four.
