Texas House submits articles of contempt to the Senate against former AG Paxton: The statement made by Patrick

On Monday, the Texas House of Representatives issued the state Senate articles of contempt toward the attorney general, Ken Paxton.

The delivery happened after the GOP-led House announced the composition of the group of managers, which would monitor the impeachment process: 5 Democrats and 7 Republicans. According to The Dallas Morning News, the board is headed by Rep. Andrew Murr, R-Junction.

On broad accusations of fraud toward Paxton that have followed the state’s top attorney for years, involving misuse of office and corruption, the House passed 20 articles of impeachment. Paxton was right away removed from office after the vote.

State Representative Brian Harrison was one of the people who supported the impeachment. The House leadership, in his view, “provided no efforts to properly document [Paxton’s] guilt or to show that it’s nothing more than an empty railroading of the political enemy,” according to him.
