Alexis Ocasio-Cortez (born October 13, 1989), better known by her initials AOC, is an American politician and activist. Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Party. Career
With her victory in New York’s 14th congressional district, primary election on June 26, 2018, Ocasio-Cortez gained national attention. In what was largely regarded as the biggest upset of the 2018 midterm election primaries, she defeated Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley, an incumbent with ten terms. When she ran for president, she comfortably defeated Republican Anthony Pappas in the November general election. Defeating John Cummings in the general election of 2020, she was re-elected. Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest member of Congress, having been elected at the age of 29.
She has been praised for having a large social media following compared to her colleagues in Congress.
Boston University, where Ocasio-Cortez double-majored in international affairs and economics, awarded her a commendation. Before deciding to run for Congress in 2018, she worked as a waiter and bartender.
The Democratic Socialists of America have elected their first two female representatives to Congress Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
A progressive platform includes support for workplace democracy, universal healthcare, tuition-free public college and a federal jobs guarantee, a Green New Deal, and the abolition of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

When they were both undergrads at Boston University, the congresswoman met Roberts, a web developer who has been described as an “easygoing redhead” (in this particular publication, no less). They met at the dean’s weekly Friday afternoon discussion, which is always a quiet place to get to know one other. It is confirmed by tweet they are engaged in real.
