Following the popularity of “Interview with the Vampire,” the latest Anne Rice adaptation for AMC is “Mayfair Witches,” which is based on the “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” trilogy. Created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, the eight-episode supernatural fantasy horror series features Tongayi Chirisa, Jack Huston, Erica Gimpel, Annabeth Gish, and Elizabeth Gish.
What transpired in Mayfair Witches Season 1 Episode 5 is as follows:
- The opening flashback seemed to be showing the origins of how state-sanctioned misogyny began to take root in communities under the guise of rooting out witchcraft.
- Rowan and Ciprien found themselves trapped in the Mayfair house with Lasher making it difficult for them both to escape. He wanted Ciprien to die there and leave Rowan with him.
- In order to save Sip, Rowan makes a deal with Lasher to “play his game”. In the process he reveals more about her powers, which results in Carlotta’s death.
- Sip is healed by the Talamasca but his sister, Odette, finds out he’s an agent for them.
Transference, the sixth episode, will debut on AMC on February 12, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

- Free of the house she may be, but Rowan will obviously remain connected to Lasher. I wonder if “extended Mayfair family” means Cortland, and we know his “help” would probably be anything but.
- Odette knowing about the Talamasca can’t be good for business — or her own safety.
- Speaking of which, is the implication in the summary above that Sip realizes the Talamasca themselves are in league with Lasher?
